Ubuntu Studio Update

The Ubuntu Studio project has been out in the public for just shy of a month, now. It has been downloaded and installed in the main PC controller that runs our studio. After looking at it for a grand total of an hour, it has been decided to put any recording with Ubuntu Studio on hold until the release of the new CD. Reason being, it has taken so long to record and release this latest CD that I can't afford another delay. Especially one that is software-caused.
That said, "Human Analog" will be recorded on a Windows XP platform using the usual suspects of Cool Edit Pro, Orion Platinum, Cubase, Nuendo, Sound Forge, and various Direct-X and VST effects and synths.
Maybe, just maybe, the next project will be recorded using open source software. Until then, hopefully you like what you hear created on a Windows-based system.
In other developments, the title track of the new CD, "Human Analog" is nearing completion. Check out a full-version rough mix, here.

New Equipment

Since its inception in 1999, [null factor] has used an el-cheapo microphone that was purchased at Wal-Mart for the sum total of $12.00 US. That microphone has served its purpose for 8 years.
I am happy to announce that [null factor] has graduated to a real, professional-quality microphone! To compliment the new mic, a tube preamp has also been purchased to supply phantom power to the mic, and also to give it a warm tone.
To sample the new material being recorded with this microphone (and to get an idea of the musical direction [null factor] is currently headed, download a sample of the latest recording, Human Analog. It's a track that protests the parasitic practices of today's corporations.
